It is not an uncommon idea that to engage with art is to engage with ourselves – whether you’re making a piece or are simply viewing it.
Art that specifically features a human form can ask us not only to see ourselves within it, but develop a relationship with the subject/s. Perhaps it is someone we relate to, someone we aspire to be, or it can be as simple as having company in the house.
