WHEN ART MEETS JOY!! Inside Mitchell Cheesman’s Buderim studio is an intriguing space in the void underneath a quintessential Queenslander, featuring uneven bare earth, mounds of paint-encrusted rags, cardboard palettes dotted with generous blobs of colourful paints and a bookcase crammed with art books. This is where Mitchell draws his inspiration from and where he is painting his stunning new collection, captured in his distinctive impasto style and expression, for his eagerly awaited sixth solo exhibition, Seasons Stain The Vein.

‘A collection of works that does not only capture a certain juncture in my life, more so an ongoing space of time, a movement caught in a seasonal change, not only with the presence of nature that surrounds me, but also the people that are in and have fallen out of my life, using painting as an outlet to exhibit the affect it has had on me, in every state of feeling under the moon, this may be the most personal show to date.’
