New Collection by Zhong Chen

We are thrilled to have received four new works from Zhong Chen, and it’s a joy to have them on display in the gallery!!

Through Zhong Chen’s successful art career, we have seen the changes in style and genre, the influence of traditional Chinese art, together with an international art education in both Australia as well as a Masters of Fine Arts at The Chelsea School of Art, London. Chen’s work has been exhibited and hangs in both private and public collections throughout the world.

The iconic pixelated style emerged in the late 90s. It continued into the early 2000s, before evolving into a more dynamic free style that incorporated fantasy or mythic creatures from Chinese Mythology. It was during this period that Chen’s work hung in the Archibald, the Wynne and the Sulman Prizes, incorporating his landscapes, portraiture and iconic ‘Gong Fu’ self-portraits.

Having not painted in a pixelated style for nearly twenty years, we feel very honoured to hang Chen’s latest collection, which have evolved into beautiful, delicate, figurative subjects with subtlety. On the flip side, the dynamic and creative style of Gong Fu (Pink) is an explosion of energy and captures all the magic that we recognise so well.

Enjoy the works, and please do reach out for further information. In particular, if you are interested in the pixelated works, please contact us for a FaceTime or a video to capture the perspective and focus of Chen’s pixelated style.
