As an admirer of paintings by James Ainslie, you will be aware that he only paints landscapes from destinations he has personally visited, where he has observed and pondered the wildlife, the surroundings and the complete essence of the day. James has hundreds of annotated sketches that he can turn to for reference. From that glance, he can transport himself back to a place and paint as if he had visited yesterday.

We have worked alongside James for over fifteen years both nationally and internationally. We continue to be amazed and refreshed by the new work he produces from his studio on the Sunshine Coast, whether he has physically travelled recently or referenced his incredible sketchbooks.
