June Sartracom

June Sartracom is currently based in the Sunshine Coast QLD. Her practice investigates the interplay of light, space and perception. Through reductive, white monochromatic relief paintings and drawings Sartracom explores the illusionary, allusionary and physical ideas of space. Dynamic lines and tilted shapes are used to imbue a sense of movement, not just of the forms but also of the medium. The manipulation of surface and the quiet of the monochrome invite a quiet contemplative encounter with the viewer.

Often hung in one of many possible modular formations, Satracom’s works collectively allude to perceptual forms that pays homage to the square, the shape from which all other shapes are said to be derived.
