Let’s talk about the value of art… t’s an interesting concept in the art world and something that is often discussed. As avid art collectors ourselves, we would never ask a gallery for a discount, but on the other hand, we would negotiate hard on purchasing a property or a car!! In discussing this, we pondered whether it’s because of our respect and love for our profession or because we know, behind the scenes, what a tough gig it is for gallerists and artists alike. Our focus in the gallery is to problem-solve and create solutions to help our clients achieve ownership of their favourite artwork. Often, a simple payment plan is the easiest way to spread the cost, or a discretionary discount may be available for multiple pieces of art purchased. We are always happy to discuss openly, but in asking, please don’t be offended if we decline a discount; so much thought goes into all the decisions we make. Our focus is supporting our hardworking artists by keeping the art value steady and consistent regardless of the external financial environment and retaining our gallery space to showcase the artworks, whilst nurturing fabulous relationships with our clients. A premier art competition for the Gympie region, named in honour of the architect of the historic School of Arts building that is home to the gallery. With a prize pool of over $15,000, the awards showcase exceptional 2D and 3D artworks by artists from across Australia. In 2026, the guest judges are Bronwyn Davies, artist and cultural practitioner; Joseph Breikers, artist and Exhibitions and Collections Coordinator at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery; and Megan Williams, Manager, University of Sunshine Coast Art Gallery.
